Android 8.0 Oreo arrives | Roll-out schedule | Check if your phone is in it







Google revealed the final name of Android 8 on August 22, 2017. The new version of Android is called Oreo and according to Google, it is the sweetest version of its mobile operating system so far.







Features

  2. Improved multitasking feature by enabling the picture-in-picture mode.
  3. The new Notification system for lock screen, better Battery life, and richer emojis.
  4. Monitored background apps.
  5. Autofill with your permission, Autofill remembers your logins to get you into your favourite apps at supersonic speed.
  6. The Picture-in-Picture mode allows seeing two apps at once!!!
  7. Easy and Simple Settings menu.
  8. Smart text selection.





Minor Updates
1. Smooth Performance.
2. You can change the shape of icons.
3. Play Protect. 



Google Pixel, Nexus

The Google Pixel, Pixel XL, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus Player and Pixel C tablet will be receiving the Android 8.0 Oreo update directly from Google because these are Google devices.



Nokia 

Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 will be getting the Android update. In fact, Nokia recently said that they will be one of the first, if not the first non-Google manufacturer to roll out 8.0 update.



OnePlus

OnePlus has confirmed that their latest flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 5 will be updated to Android Oreo. OnePlus also said that OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T will get the update. 



Coolpad Cool Play 6

Coolpad Cool Play 6 will get the Android Oreo update by December 2017.



Essential PH-1

The Google's Android 8.0 Blog post confirms that ESSENTIAL is one of the companies working on Android O development. So Essential PH-1 will surely get the update.



HTC

HTC has confirmed that the HTC U11 will be updated to Android Oreo. Some rumours also claim that the HTC 10, HTC 10 Evo, HTC Desire 10 Pro and HTC Desire 10 Lifestyle will receive the update without knowing the timeline.



Samsung

Android Oreo is expected for Samsung Galaxy S8+, Galaxy S8, Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge, Galaxy Note 7 Fan Edition, Galaxy Tab S7 and also the upcoming Galaxy note 8. It is not confirmed if the 2017 A series and J series will receive the update.



Sony

Rumours point towards Sony updating the Xperia XZ Premium. Xperia Xzs, Xperia x Performance to Android 8.0 Orea.



Lenovo

Lenovo's recently released K8 NOte is widely expected to receive the Android 8.0 update. Also, Lenovo announced that entire Phab series of smartphones will not be updated.



Moto 

Moto phones run stock Android and are among the most actively updated devices. Budget phones may not get the Android 8.0 Oreo update.
