What is GPU?

GPU(Graphics Processing Unit) is a specially designed processor to handle Graphics. It is used by gamers to play high-end games who take help of parallel computing setup. For example, you are playing Assassin's Creed and you are standing on top of a hill, u have some trees, birds, water, the sky in front of you so before displaying the contents of the game frame GPU will help your PC to locate the contents and change it as you move around. Thus GPU enhances the gaming performance for the user. Moreover, dedicated GPU helps you to achieve a better performance compared to an integrated GPU.

These two companies make equally great video cards for PC gaming. We will compare both these cards on some common platform.

1. PRICE X PERFORMANCE 

If we consider the price to performance ratio both these companies constantly try to compete with each other to make the best possible card by comparing the price. While this post was made NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 1080 is/was the best choice for those who can afford it. While AMD's new RADEON RX Vega 64 could not beat the GeForce GTX 1080. So if you want to buy a good graphics card start looking up the Benchmarks.

2. POWER CONSUMPTION

It is difficult to choose a power efficient card from either of these companies. Both the companies continuously tend to make more power efficient cards which depend on the architecture. Nvidia cards are generally more power-efficient compared to AMD which tend to heat-up a little faster.

Considering physics Nvidia leaves AMD a way behind. Nvidia tries to make the effects in the game look more realistic. It improves the graphics by bringing more complex PhysX simulation. For example, in the game, if you collide on a tree while driving a car then Nvidia's card will try to determine what kind of realistic effect the tree would have on the car and then produce it on the screen with a realistic feel for the gamer. This is the main reason to select NVIDIA card over AMD.  

So while selecting a Graphic card for your PC select a card which best suits your expectations and also fall in your budget range. Both the Graphic Card are equally better in their way of performance and it is really difficult to chose one.
